When we’re faced with big decisions, it’s important to know clearly what is important to us, and list these things in order of importance. Then we can judge what we’re willing to give up.
We must be clear on the goals in our life, and how we want our lives to be in the future. Think of one year, two years, five years down the road. What do you want your daily life to be like? What decisions today will lead you closer to that?
What about your shorter term goals, like three to six months? These will be different from your longer-term aspirations and it is important to consider the consequences of all possible courses of action.
The shorter-term goals lead to where you want to be longer term, and we must balance the importance of each. Short term goals are important because they keep you on the path, they keep you focused. They are attainable milestones that show your progress toward where you want to be.
