Bhagavad Gita 6
“You must fight with all your will, using every force and tactic at your disposal. You must fight to win. Then, when your efforts reach a conclusion, you must completely and unequivocally detach your emotions from the outcome of your actions. The outcome of any effort does not matter. Only the effort matters.” In modern terms, its not if you win or loose, its how you play the game.
Arjuna continues to question, “But how do we stop caring about the end result? An outcome is the very reason that we act. How can the reason we act be irrelevant?”
Krishna answers, “You must learn to see with the same eye, the beggar and the King, success and failure, love and hate, good and evil, light and dark. You must free yourself from these illusions, while immersed within them.”`
